bbbc The heart of that plan, he says, is “fibre, fibre, fibre.” I thought this guy couldn't expand fibre because of the CRTC decision: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-how-bce-chief-mirko-bibic-aims-to-win-back-investor-confidence/ Bypass Paywalls Clean for Chrome & Firefox https://gitflic.ru/project/magnolia1234/bpc_uploads
WalterDnes bbbc I thought this guy couldn't expand fibre because of the CRTC decision: Let's try this again. Bell's problem is debt... lots of it. They have so much debt that Moody's cut Bell's bond rating to one notch above junk-bond status https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/investing/2024/08/30/telecom-giant-bce-cut-to-one-notch-above-junk-by-moodys/ Bell seemed to be working on the issue when they sold Northwestel for $1 billion https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/northwestel-billionindigenous-consortium-three-territories-1.7231517 and their stake in MLSE for $4.7 billion. But then they laid out $7 billion to buy US ISP Ziply. WTF?!?! And analysts are now speculating on a dividend cut to finance that purchase https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/dividend-cut-bces-best-strategy-to-enable-further-expansion-says-analyst-190426174.html Not exacly attractive to investors.
chdude3 Despite generally disliking Bell, I will sign up for whatever provider first brings fibre to my neighbourhood.
bbbc chdude3 I can get Telus PureFibre now, but the price and term games suck. I have Robbers sCable 1.5Gb / 150Mb for $65. The fibre coming into my house is only running standalone Telus Optik TV.
bbbc WalterDnes Bell's problem is debt... lots of it. WalterDnes But then they laid out $7 billion to buy US ISP Ziply. WTF?!?! Oh, I'm quite familiar with the second-tier rural telco Bhell bought which has fiber nowhere. My point is Mirko likes to blame everything else accept his stupid decisions. I'm still sticking to the merger between Telus and Bhell, whether people want to believe it or not.
KingB71 Their share price has cratered in recent years, but they're not the only telecom company that has, yet the dividends are still high making them attractive to some investors (not this one)
