Collecting is an endeavor that I’ve never admired. Even with Guitars. Some spend 10’s of thousands on guitars thinking they will resell them at a profit, but it rarely works out. Right now the market is almost decimated, A guitar I bought for 900 is now trading, used, for 500. When I got it I had a windfall and thought it would be not only an investment in my skill and mental health, but that I could sell it if I had to. Yup, at a big loss.
Most collectors lose their butts.
I had a friend that just died that has about 300K worth of CDs and band memorabilia. He left it behind and we have to figure out how to recover a fraction of his investment. Dumping it all would be like pissing on his grave. We are looking for shops that still sell the stuff.
He was a good guy, but not at all mature, he only ate burgers and such and was diabetic and had kindney disease.
