Given how well their investigation worked so far, that may not be such a bad idea at this point.

Wow! Just wow! Perhaps they suspect some kind of ducktardly fowl play?!?
The airplane suffered a double bird strike, then the pilots mistakenly shut down the less damaged engine. One other known failure they had is that the landing gear failed to deploy, and they didn’t have much (if any) braking aside from the “belly brake”.
However, they still landed the badly damaged plane, and it was the impact with the embankment that was the immediate precursor to the tragedy. Had the plane was given more space to slow down, the disaster most likely wouldn’t be that bad.
Since there are roads (815) at either end there could’ve been some extra collisions there, but still the overall loss of life most likely would’ve been smaller, or perhaps even much smaller.
My opinion is that the plane was most likely fine so there will be no preexisting defect, and so it will probably come down to:
- some bad luck ducks
- pilot errors (under very high stress)
- killer embankment (and the people who approved it)
