Comcast is expanding its network. The expansion, part of bringing Xfinity and Comcast Business Services to more residents and businesses in Fairfield County, also means bringing internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services from the two “to Bridgeport residents and businesses for the first time,” according to the company. The project is expected to be completed in 2027, according to Comcast.

“Comcast is proud to further invest in Connecticut with our fiber expansion in Bridgeport,” said Carolyne Hannan, senior vice president of Comcast’s New England Region, in a statement. “By continuing to expand our gigabit-speed network in Fairfield County, Comcast is providing residents and businesses a new option for fast, reliable Internet and mobile services, as well as entertainment, home automation and cybersecurity solutions,” Hannan said.

Comcast noted that residents can go to Xfinity.com/mytown and enter their address for more details on construction timing and upcoming service availability. …

telcodad I wonder if its FTTH or HFC. I know they say “fiber expansion” but they said that down here as well and really its fiber to the node, then the node has up to 4 legs of output, if not split further, then goes through a Mini Bridger amp, and then once one of those legs go so far, a line extender amplifier.

Here there are some areas overbuilt with Windstream Fiber, SECV HFC, SECV Fiber. Don’t forget people still get things like T-Mobile home internet.

cypherstream Impossible to guess. In Kansas and Missouri, Xfinity has overbuilt existing fiber providers in some areas with FTTH and in other areas HFC. Every time it has all been paid for 100% by Xfinity with no subsidies or grants. They clearly see $ opportunity with both FTTH and HFC right now.
