In theory your Mom should be able to sign up for any of the new Bell brands: Acanac, Distributel, eBox, Primus… I don’t hear much about Primus, but people are pretty happy with the other three.
Distributel, for example, will increase the price after the first year, but it’s still within reason. Like maybe from the $40 intro rate to $70 long term price. That’s still a very manipulative business practice that I completely disagree with, but Bell would go from $40 to $150+, and add you say, with occasional $5 increases sprinkled in too..
Service reliability is great, it’s real fibre, and that’s really just better than the other technologies.
But wait, I just went to check prices, and Distributel redirected me to eBox! Possibly some geo location issue? It detected me in Ontario, but switched me to French at some point.. It seems more likely that Bell is deciding to consolidate some of the various brands? Like, if Bell has too many brands, customers can always get an intro year from eBox, then from Acanac, then from Distributel, it could be 4-5 years before they have to cycle back seeing to the first company again :p
