Even with the insanely bloated and overpriced medical system that the US has the proposed damages he is asking for are entirely out of line.
Edit: If he had an actual allergy (not intolerance, allergy) to onions it would cover the entire allium family which aside from onions includes garlic, chives, leeks, shallots, and scallions as they all have nearly identical chemical composition though with differing amounts.
