I worked for a grocer. Our departments got in trouble for improper tagging. It was hard to keep up sometimes. But customers deserve to get what they expect.
There were also customers that were real jerks. One was a mystery customer that pulled a bad one for a gotcha, pronouncing a less popular pasta in fake Italian. He acted like I’m an idiot for not understanding him. I cook. I cook a lot. I make a lot of Italian foods. He just used deception to give me a bad report.
I knew more about food than any of my coworkers did.
But that job sucked, customers were horrible. When I’d clean up spills, customers would jump my barriers and spread the spill and laugh at me. There are too many cruel people in the world. And coworkers that would make for of my age.
I did almost everything but cut meat or deli. But it was a very demeaning job. Women would pee all over the toilet seats, for instance, and I had to scoop poop out of toilets. I was expected to be the store plumper.
But I did my job and did it will until I quit. After I quit, that store closed down.
