A read-only site will not permit logins. Why? Because the database is used to manage your login status (and authenticate your credentials). Logging in means that the database is open for read/write.

FYI at 7:02pm I logged into the DSLr site and was able to send a user to user DM while logged in from my account. It appears it is set to work like that for 5 minutes after the hour every hour for now (I feel like whoever is running it right now s trying to keep bandwidth usage low)

Anyone got an hypothesis as what this "5 minutes" thing is about? Is it somehow minimizing hosting fees? Or are they working on it for the other 55 mins/hour?

I attempted emails to a SueS and another Dimaging poster trying to send them here. Should work if their DSLR email address is active.

Whatever the reason it turns out to be its not the Dslreports site and the renewal of it. So Please be wary of that site access it is not in my estimation a safe thing. Selecting the Login that brings you to an "X" log on page should be a Dead give away to possible danger and not DslReports
There most likely going to be hackers and trolls using the demise and the Dslr the fellowship from there for the purpose of theft and abuse of that former trust

Agree fully, especially with the lack of any sort of verifiable announcement, caution is a good idea.

In today's world, sometimes a bit of paranoia is actually the sanest policy.

Highly unlikely. It looks way too authentic -- so whoever is behind it right now, has access to the system, (possibly on a different HW and pipe, though) that is used to run DSLReports.

PL1 This could be the reason why there was so much server activity a few days ago Liquid Web was doing searches of the 25 year Data Base.

Guy54435 it would not show as a virus to change a link or redirect a link to somewhere that is a legit site to gather information there are many other links on the page (A Hacker's Number one Tool) construction so changing one is rather easy since and that page you viewed has a different one to start with than DSLreports that is the first redirect your virus scanning missed as a threat.

Sorry but I am not trusting and skeptical of free things on the Web so many have hidden purposes and nefarious aims.

HFB1217 If indeed LW has taken the time and effort to put this together, it's incredibly generous of them and speaks volumes of their management culture. With careful clock watching, 5 minutes is enough time to send a PM and grab some screenshots. Hopefully the PM email notifications are working temporarily as well.
