Samsung users report persistent SIM card error notification after One UI 7 update, but there’s a potential fix

A frustrating glitch seems to have emerged for Samsung Galaxy users following the recent One UI 7 update. Many users are reporting persistent and erroneous SIM card error notifications appearing on their devices despite having properly installed SIM cards.

Users across multiple Samsung forums and Reddit communities have reported receiving notifications from the Setup Wizard app claiming their SIM card “hasn’t been inserted” or “isn’t installed correctly,” among other things, even though their phones maintain normal cellular service. The issue affects a wide range of Galaxy devices including the S21, S22, S23, S24 series, and even the Z Fold3.

Reminds me of a classic Dick Van Dyke episode.

Consisting of a practical joke played on Rob Petrie, he is made to do nonsensical actions to fix his phone. A few of the gags were cut, especially one where he was to put a bag over his head with the phone receiver.

I got the update a couple of days ago.

Since that update : 1. The on off button does not work. I have to use two hands and press simultaneously the on off button and the volume button for like 10 seconds to get the switch off menu.

My battery indicator became unreadable. I have to go the settings and check the battery power there.
My pages with apps do not move horizontally any more, only vertically.
There are a few other settings messed up, like the time shown on the opening page.

What did they think?? This is the first time I have such issues after an update.

No sim issues at all, but I don’t care for it, It wanted to update in the middle of the day or I could schedule an update time to do it later on. Ok let me look at the calendar to when a good time would be, oh you can’t do that because the update screen locks out everything else. Choose to update in the middle of the night; wake up to a more annoying device. This is called “progress”, when simple tasks are made progressively harder and more difficult through the use of technology.

Really you pay a lot of money for a crappy user experience that gets worse the longer you own your device. Their remedy is to spend a lot more money for a shorter lasting experience that also sucks by purchasing a new phone every year.

Samsung is becoming a very arrogant company. Aside of the issues with this update : Last fall I discovered that my phone did not charge when off, only when on. In off position it gave a fully nonsensical message “moisture in the charging port”
Samsung repair stores refused to do the warranty repair due to strict orders from Samsung never recognize warranty when this message shows up. After long hassle with Samsung customer service they only agreed top “investigate” it if I delete everything on my phone and send it to them for four weeks. I ended up paying over $ 85 for port replacement in a local store. A few months later, a similar nonsense happened. First I was told it was the charger so I spent $26 for a new charger, only having two days later the same problem. ,This time, miraculously, it was accepted as a warranty repair.
