bennor When attempts are made to fix issues (regardless of the political party in power) the bureaucracy takes over and slows down or halts what ever changes where being attempted.
We’ll see in the next few years the problems created by firings at the CDC, NIH, FDA, National Weather Service and NOAA, VOA and RFE, the Social Security Administration, State Department, and so many others.
And yes, perhaps not “massive” numbers at the FAA, but definite large-scale numbers at many of those other agencies.
Percentages don’t tell the whole story—just as (moderator removed crude reference) does not tell the whole story.
The Social Security Administration was already desperately short of workers, despite a record number of people using SSA services, pushing out or firing workers will just make it even worse.
And trying to wipe out entire agencies such as the US Peace Institute (which is not even a federal agency but rather a separate nonprofit organization created by law), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which has helped out so many ordinary Americans.
And the trashing of the Kennedy Center—you good with that ??
Now, with the Hurricane season about to start, the administration has doubled down on its desire to kill FEMA. The acting FEMA chief was just fired because he told Congress that FEMA was doing important work.
Ironically, the rod-state governors support FEMA, because those states have so many disasters, and have benefited so much from the agency….
