Hey All,

Is there a way to setup the thread to where the replies are under the person that made the original comment. Right now, they appear to go to the end. It makes it harder to reply or figure out who replied to anything. I know this might not matter on some of the smaller threads but the larger ones are hard to follow.

i prefer the current method. folks should get into the habit of quoting to put the right context on their post. you're suggesting a Reddit style which i personally don't favour.

Yes, the Reddit style interrupts the flow, using quotes is the better way.

ONLY the relevant content being addressed. NOT the entire post. Sometimes people at DSLR were quoting the entire 30 line original post and saying nothing more than "Me too".

Don't have to make it like Reddit. However, it could still be cleaned up some to be able to follow. On some of the threads the replies are far apart and not all of them have quotes in them.

Edit: Esp the ones that over 300 posts.

Yes, that is a problem. Enabling pagination has been requested, that would help with the long pages.

I fully agree and have suggested this in a different discussion. The threaded view requested by the OP doesn't bode well in a discussion forum. In email, yes. In a discussion forum, not so much.

Why? Because discussions always change topics mid-stream. It's far easier to scroll down the page for what you're looking for, quote the post, and go from there.

Site admins - Please install a flarum pagination extension. There are several to choose from.

I believe the OP wants it done the way DSLR and every other forum on the internet does it. I would prefer it that way too, but I guess I can get used to clicking on the username of the post that's being responded to to see that post.

I wasn't necessary requesting a threaded view like reddit. I was basically asking for something that can make it easier to read. I will also agree that the reddit style can also be hard to follow as well.

I think @Donoreo understood what I was thinking. I didn't really know what it was called, but pagination was what I was actually thinking. Learned something new today.

I probably just should have said grid lines and pages. LOL

That was laziness I am sure, or maybe ignorance, they did not know how to do it "properly"?

vaxvms this is a case where I would use the like button. Here we can see all the likes given and by whom. At dslreports only the person receiving the “thumbs up” could see who liked the post. It wasn’t exposed to the other thread participants.

So instead of a “me too!” From me look for my name in the liked by… field.

I know that most want a form of pagination, but for me, I'm giving this slider tool a go. I don't want to pressure the site's dev's too much, after all, they did us a huge one here. So far this site is friendlier also, which I am very grateful for.

My main reason for asking for this was because it is hard to follow the larger posts. I'm not always on everyday, so I will catch up after a post blows up.

I will come back the next day and there is over 200 posts. When I am trying to go through them, if someone else posts something, then the screen jumps either up or down and then I gotta figure out where I was in the post.

This seems to happen with the larger posts.

I was playing catch up when I posted this when reading one of the posts and I had to do this many times that day.

I am greatful that @SLC_96 created this site. I have gotten used to how this works. Well almost.

Rich221976 I use Vivaldi so I don't know if other browsers do but Vivaldi does is that say I get to the end of whatever is in the thread, if I go back say two days later and there are say 10 replies Vivaldi starts at what was the last one I looked at so then I only have to scroll ten replies.
