My sugars are still not 100% controlled. The insulin is helping me to get it under control though. One thing that I have done that is causing my sugars to spike some is that I did quit smoking cigarettes. I switched to vaping and lowing the nicotine level pretty much about every two weeks. I just ordered carts that is 0% nicotine now, so once that comes in and once I am out of the 12.9 mg, I will just be using the vape until I run out of the 0% nicotine. So far it is working. I am also been vaping less and less each day with the 12.9 mg now as well.
I also gain some additional weight since I quit smoking. I know that isn’t helping with my control of the sugars. However, it is better for me to quit smoking and take the small hit to my A1c now, because over time my overall health will get much better without smoking anymore. This will even make controlling my sugars better as well.
I just got a membership through the health insurance that will let me to go almost any gym in the area to go and start working out. I just purchased it last week, but I haven’t gone to the gym yet. I am planning on starting to work out starting next week.
When I started using the insulin I started to gain weight and also since I quit smoking I am gaining weight fast. I have gained back almost all of the weight that I had lost when I was on Ozempic. It took a few years but I have gain it back. I know that some of this weight gain is going to be temporary since I quit smoking.
I see most of my doctors this month and will need to update them that I switched to vaping to quit smoking. I see my primary care in a week and the endo at the end of this month. I also got to get my lab work done and my Endo ordered a A1c for me so I will see how I am doing so far with the insulin.
My Endo gave me a target of keeping my average glucose at around 140. So I been adjusting my insulin around some to prevent lows and also to try and prevents highs. The last few weeks have been a little harder to control.
She has given me some leeway to adjust my insulin dosages around. One thing I found is that when she had me taking my long term insulin at 100 units a day in the morning, it was causing too many lows for me. So I figured out that the best way for me to take it is to divide the dosage. I need to get a new script for my fast acting insulin since I am almost out of it. Instead of just 10 units after each meal, I have to take more so when I see them, I get that increased.
I actually look forward to seeing my A1c. It’s still not going to be perfect since this will be about two months of using insulin and one month of average blood sugar reading 500 and higher. However, it still should have gone down from 10.5. I am estimating that my A1c should be around 7-8.
Then I can get the A1c checked again next month and see what it looks like with the sugars more under control. Since the A1c is the average of 3 months.

This past week I had some very high sugars. I know this was my diet and my stress level.
