havaloc The wifi gateway is only included for 1 year on the lower plan, then starting on Month 13 of service, it will cost $15/m, which takes you up to that 5 year price (see they are all $15/m higher). For the 1100mbps plan, another discount falls off making the monthly fee $80/m in year 2. In years 3 through 5 the monthly cost goes up to $123/m. If you never call or go on Reddit to renegotiate, your 5 year cost of service will be $5988.00 assuming $10/m autopay discount and you take their gateway for the entire 5 years. Of course this is before any taxes and fees.
The 5 year price includes the wifi gateway for 5 years. Thats pretty good in markets outside of the Northeast for unlimited data. Those in a competitive market in the Northeast, don’t have data caps to worry about, but lets look at the total price for 1100mbps. $65/m includes the gateway assuming $10/m autopay discount. Thats $780 a year, so over 5 years your total cost is $3900.00 before any taxes and fees. Thats a savings of $2088 if you stay with Comcast for 5 years.
The 1 year is good if you are in a competitive market and like to switch it up a lot. The 5 years is good in a monopoly market, or a market where you really don’t like or have a need for any alternatives.
Here is a visual to help (based off my markets 1100/300mbps pricing)

As long as you keep the service for 25 or more months, price lock is a better option. Otherwise Years 1 and 2 is the same cost, just spread out differently = $1560.00
