Question on moving to 5 year guarantee plan

So, I checked Xfinity.com today to see if it said anything about the 5 year price guarantee plan for me - I don’t know much about it.

I am on the Gigabit x 2 plan, 2100 Mbps d/l. I see that there is a new plan I can switch to, 2100 Mbps, for $8 less a month. So I am thinking, why not?

I noticed it says in the new plan, “Includes $10 autopay/paperless billing with bank account”. I do that now - so will it still be $8/month cheaper?

I also noticed in the “added features”, it says “Advanced WiFi equipment and unlimited data included for 5 years”. I get the unlimited data now as I am in the Middle Atlantic that everyone gets it.

So if I switch to this plan, are they going to send me their Router/modem equipment, and not let me use my Netgear CM3000 modem and Netgear router? I am wondering if there is more to this that just some paperwork connection to a new plan that will make me sorry I switched.

Really? It seems like it’s letting me to change plan to it? I thought I read that they were going to roll it out to new customers…

The word on the street is it will become available to existing customers sometime in the next month. However, I’ve not successfully been able to do so or confirm that this will indeed take place in the coming weeks. Comcast is continually shooting themselves in the foot by not ripping the band aide and accepting cable internet is on the decline and the pricing for it has to get very clear and much cheaper to compete.

Not here yet. Mine still shows the toggle to show rates with contracts or not - and the old pricing. Weirdly though, I have a 400Mbs plan that shows correctly in the web interface but when I go to services in the phone app is says I can download up to 800Mbs.

I’m still under a 2 year promo that expires in September. I can’t switch online to either a new 1 year or the 5 year. The offered prices are all rack rate. Perhaps it’s the promo or perhaps it’s not available to us existing customers in the West market.

What’s not clear is, do I have to give up my customer owned modem and router for Comcast equipment?

Donawalt You’ll need to use the comcast provided modem to get the unlimited data but you can put it in bridge mode and use your own router. That’s how I’m doing it and it works fine. And there’s no heartburn with them about tech support or blaming a customer owned modem.

lesmikesell When we used to have 500 Mbps and downgraded to 150 Mbps, in the app it still shows 500 Mbps. Im guessing they have a bug.

Im would just assume if it says the gateway is included then you have to use the gateway. It’s the price for pay on taking them up on the offer. Like @swilliams stated you can put the gateway in to bridge mode and continue to use your router.
