Our polling location changed on us. We received replacement voter cards in the mail last week. Not sure what precipitated it?

Didn’t affect us in the end since we voted in the advance poll.

You 100% sure it actually did change? Like you looked it up on the Elections website to be sure?

I ask because there were reports during a by-election last year of people getting sent fake voter cards with wrong information on them, in an apparent attempt to sow confusion & possible suppress votes. Check the elections website and I’d be making a police report if the addresses don’t match what’s in the voter information service.

I just voted. What a horrible experience. Decent lineup at the elementary school, People coming in without voter cards, the workers struggled to match the addresses, people saying they moved blah blah, didnt have enough info to verify their address, absolute nightmare. It seems they allowed people to cast a vote without verifying their address. And still its the crappy paper ballots. Just ripe for abuse.

Provincial was so easy, so quick. yes, less people vote in provincial, but I felt it was a lot better organized.

Just did and the new poll address matches Elections Canada info. And no change in the advanced poll location.

Our original voter cards had a middle school and now it’s a non-school venue. Makes me wonder if something came up that caused the school board to withdraw that school as a polling location.

[deleted] Whining. There are procedures for dealing with those situations. Physical paper ballots are still the most secure method of voting. Elections Canada has said clearly they will not move to other methods. You won’t have to be anxious about it for at least five years.

Having polling stations in schools is considered a security risk now. Can’t say I blame them. That and parking issues. Local churches are preferred here.

Dks01 My polling station was the same place as the 2022 provincial elections, a community centre not far from here, which these days seems to be mostly a couple of daycares. Why are schools considered a security risk?

Our advanced poll was at a middle school but it was over the Easter weekend so no students or staff were around.

The parking lot at the school where I voted maybe holds 40 cars total. and I’m sure half of them were the teachers and other staff. I can imagine the shitshow that’s happening there now.

One of our polling stations got changed. Voting relocated after WFCU Centre fire

Of course that could just be the smoke from the Windsor Spitfires crashing and burning after blowing a 3-0 series lead in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Unless the school is closed for the day, the authorities don’t want hordes of un-vouched for people roaming around the school campus or especially the building.

Elementary students were running around the halls when I was there today. They use a side entrance to the school that is closest to the gym but there were still kids around. Nobody seemed to care or mind.

We all voted early. We just got home from moving the girls home from university.

Voted early evening and the polling station was an absolute zoo, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so busy. I asked the woman how busy she’s been and she said she’s been going crazy since advance polling opened, she’s never seen anything like it. Then she went on to make political comments… lol!
