iMac frozen during update?

Today, I decided to update both my MacBook Pro and my iMac. I usually do it both at the same time just for grins and giggles, but I realize after I came back maybe an hour that my iMac is sitting like this while my MacBook Pro has almost finished updating. After nearly 5 years of doing it this way this has never happened. What do I do? try to turn off the iMac and reboot. Or let it alone, what’s your take?

Warzau well I finally just rebooted and all is well. Guess this is my first hiccup with a update on my iMac

I had one for nearly 12 years and that happened a couple of times. Rebooting worked, but I remember one time I had to boot in safe mode or maybe reinstall the OS (it’s been a while). Always scary. 🙂

You reminded me that yes once I had to update via safe mode and also had to reinstall the OS. I thought the reinstall was cool via the internet. Downloading the OS.

Warzau When I first got my iMac, I was trying to use Hibernate and that always messed up the OS somehow. I had to reinstall a few times before I gave up. I remember thinking it was cool that it was just downloading the OS. I guess not so cool for people without a fast connection. 😃

Funny thing I moved my ios to a external drive. It works great. But I also have issues with hibernate. Perusing the Apple forums. Seems others have similar issues. I’m at the point I just turn on the computer in the morn and then shut it off at end of day.
