urbanriot This premise, that Western Teachers are failing their students seems to be built on lies grown from populism.
I have teachers in my family, I’m friends with teachers, and my greatest mentors are/were teachers. Teachers are great here. The problem is the parents, and not just poor parents, but parents stuck on backwards ideologies and pejorative practices.
I have someone close to me that had a nervous breakdown due to the parents, parents are bizarre, 90% of her student’s parents were a dumpster fire and she fought to help her beloved children despite this. She spent 1/3d of her pay and worked countless unpaid hours dedicated to proving comfort and teaching to students with horrible parenting.
IOW, the schools are not failing, it’s our parents. I should know, I grew up with 2 parent abusers. I was told that I was mentally deficient (in another term) but after going to college late in life, I discovered that, at the time, I had a 155 IQ and I was head of my class despite failing everything but music in high school while homeless.
Parents are the problem, and they run the full gamut of the ways they fail. Wheter it is political extremism, or hate, or ignorance, or refusal to help their children with their studies, or feeding them properly, or failing to participate at all, and so many more issues.
Even though I was labeled Deficient as a boy, it turned out my knowledge exceeded my peers, my school didn’t fail me, in fact, I scored in the high 80’s and 90’s in my GED, DESPITE homelessness and abuse, thanks to my teachers. AS a kid I knew more about science, technology, music, home skills, mechanical skills, literary skills, psychological knowledge than almost all my peers, but my parents labeled me incompetent.
There were half a dozen teachers in grade school that SAVED my life.
Schools aren’t failing us.
