Running a 2020 Intel MacAir. Still on Sonoma. How are folks that are still running Intel faring on Sequoia? I attempted install at 15.2 but install failed. Considering to try again perhaps when 15.5 is released.

I am running an updated MacBookPro18,1 w/Apple M1 Pro, and I’ll likely upgrade to a M4 successor when the time comes. I am fine with the newer technology.

If that laptop (MacBookAir9,1 ?) had a good Internet connection all along, and was presumably running macOS Sonoma 14.7.5 in mid September 2024, wasn’t an update to macOS Sequoia 15.0 offered back then?

Regardless, isn’t the current macOS offering to update now when the Internet is connected?

I’ve been offered Sequoia since last September but when I tried to install at 15.2 there was a problem causing an error resulting in me needing to reinstall Sonoma. It wasn’t a clean install as my data was still intact.

Thank you for replies thus far.
I’m considering giving Sequoia another shot when 15.5 is released and wonder how Sequoia’s running on other Intel machines.

If that MBA is running macOS Sonoma 14.7.5 now, it may be the safest to just update to just macOS Sequoia 15.0.

Since macOS Sequoia v15.5 is in general release today, have you given it a try again?

Not yet. Still debating with myself. I’ll have another yr of security updates with Sonoma or 2 yrs with Sequoia before needing to upgrade my Mac. Perhaps on a boring day when I feel adventurous I’ll try again. Will report back with results.

Couldn’t pass up BestBuy’s MacBook Air M4 sale this past week. Picked up new MacAir so I’m now running Sequoia 15.6 on the M4 and Sonoma 14.7.7 on my 2020 Intel. Sonoma should be good another yr for security updates. The M4 is somewhat snappier feeling and boots and shutdowns much faster. The casing and keyboard seem a little larger. I’m golden for new OSs for awhile. Unfortunately my 2008 HP printer will need an upgrade. It works still on Sonoma but Sequoia doesn’t offer drivers nor does HP. Need to move on to wireless/airplay eventually. Just replaced my ink so it might be a bit.

The only driver I tried was the 4100 series since the printer is a Deskjet D4160. My printer’s lights would flash when trying to print. I googled and read on HP but couldn’t locate a definitive driver. I hesitate to load a bunch of drivers that don’t work. From my reading seems others have run into driver woes with Sequoia.

Thanks Donoreo. Trying to find a solution on HPs support site is like a dog chasing its tail. My workaround will be using my old Mac via flash drive to print. I don’t need to print very often. When the ink runs out I’ll pick up a newer printer that’s compatible via AirPrint with my new Mac.
