It’s a good idea to go for am untapped segment; however, 2 years is an awfully long time, and it remains to be seen if they can deliver on their promises, or not.
There were at least half a dozen bankruptcies/reorganizations in the last decade or so (i.e. Lordstown, Fisker, Nikola, etc..) and I think the only manufacturer operating profitably is Tesla, Rivian is close (gross profit, but net loss). All other US sellers are either losing money but selling some cars (i.e. Lucid, Polestar, Ford, GM, etc.) or producing only token amount (i.e. Faraday Future)
They don’t need to worry about cheap chinese imports, but history is not on their side. I like the idea of sticking to what’s absolutely necessary – my first vehicle had a stick shift (three on tree) no AC, no power steering, no power brakes, no power anything. Less weight and less things to breaks.
