Hello Bell users,
Is anyone else having issues with their usage of Google Messages on Bell Cellphones?
I’m a Freedom Mobile Samsung Cellphone user & I noticed for a few months now that my Google Messages chat with my brother who is a Bell Samsung Cellphone user is showing that the text thread is no longer end to end encrypted. I think this may have changed late last year (Nov / Dec 2024?).
I checked my Google Messages RCS Chats Status and it is showing as Connected. My Brother checked his Status and his was showing Verify Phone Number. I asked him to try clicking on the Verify… button and since then his status has been stuck on Verifying phone number.
I did a Google Search about this issue & see that there are also many other Bell Cellphone users with various Android cellphones posting in Bell forum that they too have noticed and/or are experiencing this issue. Some of the Bell forum posters with Android cellphones stated it was working fine for them on other carriers (eg Rogers) and broke when they switched to Bell.
Apparently it’s difficult if not impossible for Bell users to fix this issue themselves and attempts to have Bell or Google fix the issue have been unsuccessful (another case of the classic Google it’s your carrier’s issue versus Bell’s response that it’s a Google issue). Why can’t companies just get along and fix the damn problems that one or both have caused to happen with one of their updates? 🤔😒
I found lots of various other forum postings with user suggestions for ways to try & fix the issue so I’ll try some of those out when I get a chance to visit my brother for a hands on session with his phone.
