Heat84 They took down the front end proxy server, willingly or unwillingly, we'll never know. The URL is still pingable, so that might still be active? This is a sign it may be over.

I was thinking about this. I have a feeling that DSLreports as we know it is gone.

I have no knowledge. This is just something that been in the back of my mind. Since they killed the site in secrecy. I would not be surprised if Justin or who ever owns the site might have sold the domain. Granted it was probably worth more than it is now.

Before DSLreports, I was involved with chat rooms on IRC. I was just a user in the beginning, but ended up at the being partners with the other owners. I purchased about 8 bots to keep my channels save from being taken over. We had a few take overs at time. As time went on everyone was leaving the IRC chat rooms for other services.

I made a website for my channel. Purchased the domain and everything. It was costing me a little bit just to be able to chat to friends like we do here. I knew a good amount of the people in person. However, after awhile I went ahead and started to kill the services for the bots.

I ended up just keeping one bot for a while and I had a second one running on my computer. Plus I was in the room all the time.

I also went ahead and let my domain name expire. Someone else bought the domain and put up their own website.

I know a long way around to get to the point. I wonder if DSLreports.com will come back. It just won't be the same website. Makes me wonder if they are going to sell the domain name or are they going to let it expire. It would be stupid to let it expire but who knows with the "owners".

It's too bad we can't get the domain name so we can have this on DSLreports.com.

I was the first Outsider to know of this suicide pact when the Moderator Mike had the courage and consideration to break the silence pact. I had been an original Moderator in the early days of 2000 and we had worked together so he Trusted and Informed me of all of this.
In turn I sent emails to trusted and site important well known Members with the intention to quietly reveal this travesty and possibly keep the lights on. All this revealings had to be done quietly so as to prevent being barred or deleted from the Dslr Site

Also sent Emails to CNN, Wired, and reddit News but they either did not follow through or in researching Dslreports Management did not confirm the facts.
I was then told further on by Mike that "SHE" has decided not to sell or to allow the transfer of ownership but to just KILL the site.
The "She" who was the head powers and had "The Justin Proxy" could only have been Cabana as she ran the site in conjunction with Justin and then in his stead although it was said that Justin was involved in the final decision.
As well as the site closing the providers that furnished Server Hosting and ISP service were not paid and past do Billing was not acknowledged all contact points were shut down by Dslr and some false ones created so Liquidweb served papers to foreclose and then they have taken possession of Dslr after the site shutdown was already and done by the Management of Dslr. prior to the serving of the papers

DrStrange had told me and he had setup an emergency contact place on Hoo-Lee-fooks in the stead and also a place for contact was made at reddit.
Thankfully while we tried to ameliorate and setup alternatives SLC_96 came to the rescue with this New Home "Broadband Bulletin Forum" and we are thankful and no longer are we the Homeless Dslr Gypsies.

At this point in time, it is said there are almost 500 of our compatriots who have joined us here and I am sure as the word spreads many more of our Dslreports family will be here as our people come Home.

As an added fact the Domain Name of Dslreports is registered, with its license set to expire some time in 2027
So the Domain name will not be on the open market and Liquidweb might have seized it if it has not done so already

Not that I really care - but Ye Olde Webbe Sytte is still hanging on in this weird "open 5 mins in every hour" limbo with, as far as I can tell by a casual not-logged-in visit, nothing changing.

When DSLR is finally dead, are we gonna have wake or a funeral? I'll be a pall bearer. Should DSLR be buried or creamated? Or maybe launched into space? Can we send it to the Genisis planet to be reborn? Who wants to do the eulogy? What should be the epitaph?
