Netgear CM3000 refurb modems

In case anyone is looking for one of the new mid/high-split cable modems that are on the official supported model list, there are a bunch of Netgear CM3000 certified refurbished units currently for sale on Amazon ($209.99) and eBay ($219.99) by Verdi Commerce. I’m reluctant to buy a $300 modem if they are planning on rolling out DOCSIS 4.0 modems in the near future, so this is lower risk.

Thanks. Just ordered one to replace my 8200.
Maybe will help with packetloss and high latency with any upload past 5Mbps, but my guess is that’s from their QoS dropping my packet priority.

Interested to see if they over provisioned 1200Mbps.

The price on eBay has dropped to $200 now. It’s also on verdi.com for $208.99.

I have the CM3000 and it does not appear to be over provisioned. I am on a 1 gig plan (not fiber) and when I have a computer directly connected to the modem it pulls right at about 1 gig. My NIC is capable of over 1 gig. This could be area dependent though, I am in a Des Moines, IA suburb.

Mine arrived today and I installed it between work meetings. Speed tests consistently show 1.2-1.3 Gbps download and 65Mbps upload.

However, any sustained downloads still result in 100-200ms latency due to the upload usage with ACK (TCP sending back acknowledgement for downloads)

As many others have mentioned, any uploading greater than _20Mbps causes high latency and this seems to be widespread behavior on Mediacom/Xtream Network.

Overall, modem seems nice, and I do recommend for 1Gbps or greater plan.

UPS delivered mine this morning. It comes in a generic brown box, not the retail packaging. Looked brand new and still had the plastic peel on the display.

Got it activated through support chat after having to tell it I wanted to talk to a person. Was surprised my IP address changed from the 173.x range to the 50.x range.

My speed test is still limited to 930 down and 62 up until my new router comes tomorrow.

Now that my home network is upgraded to 2.5GbE, speedtest.net is capable of exceeding 1100 Mbps, fast.com shows 1.2-1.4 Gbps and Cloudflare varies from 800 Mbps to just over 1 Gbps.
