HooRU Yes, progress in technology is a thing. Yes, replacing horses.
However, what is happening now is unprecedented. Jobs are disappearing at a rate never seen before. In the 50’s to the 70’s there were enough jobs that a single household member could pay for 2 cars and a house and have a real vacation. The fact is that humans are being replaced at a skyrocketing rate and something’s got to give. In 10 years there will be a global crises and probably riots.
It’s all fine and dandy till it affects YOU.
When I said private owner self driving Uber was a great idea a couple posts ago, I was just thinking of the basic concept and not any details.
Some people think when technology replaces people, they’ll always be a another job for those people. Sooner or later that won’t be true anymore. I wonder if these business owners replacing people with robots realize the paradoxical situation they’re walking into. If people are replaced by robots, people won’t be earning money. If people don’t earn money, they won’t have any to spend. If there’s no money to spend, there’s no money to buy goods or services from the companies that replaced their human workers with robots. Most business are probably just paying attention to their corner of the world or don’t think the paradox will culminate until at 100+ years into the future, so if they even consider that the paradox could happen, they probably don’t worry about it.
Maybe some people who are all for robots replacing people think the Earth future in Star Trek where there’s no money used on Earth, is gonna happen alot sooner than 200 years from now.
Some people think a job should exist just to keep a person employed, even if the job isn’t a necessary cog in the machine, which is crazy.
