I doubt they'll get the message but I really wish someone at CBS or Paramount or whoever holds the Star Trek rights that millions of people want to watch Star Trek, not crap like this.
CBS/Paramount is possibly merging with Skydance very soon.
Skydance already has had big Trek involvement---they were the folks who did the re-imagined stuff such as "Star Trek Into Darkness".
So who knows WHERE Skydance wants to take Trek.
As well the merger is being challenged by various groups.
Because CBS/Paramount owns broadcast stations, the FCC has to give approval, and there are some controversies. We [cannot] go further than that here.
Off-Topic "Jeopardy-type" trivia:
In the 1950's Paramount was partnered with the pioneering TV network DuMont, but it was a hot and cold situation (and some FCC complications) which eventually led to the DuMont network shutting down. However many DuMont stations eventually became Metromedia which then evolved into Fox.
Later, Paramount helped in the founding of the new ABC-TV network.
Still later (1995), Viacom and Chris-Craft Industries (yes the boat company) launched UPN (United Paramount Network) which featured Star Trek Voyager.
Was logical enough for a boat company to have a show about a star-ship.
UPN merged with The WB in 2006 to form The CW
Now as we know Paramount is with CBS.
TL/DR: Paramount has trouble with stable relationships.
