telcodad I grabbed a dog, took her for a walk and by the time I got there (about 30 min after they pulled up), they left. There was a two trucks leaving. The bigger one and then a smaller ford pickup. Both said Fiber Network Services on it- but working in a Comcast ped.
The actives were put in late 2022, so it would surprise me if it was an upgrade already. I didnt think they would be paid off yet, especially since this is new territory and they have to build a paying customer base first.
However, if they wanted to do a pilot and FDX training, it would be a good area. Since it’s all new system and customer orders became available in December 2022, nobody has legacy gear. Nobody would have been issued a DTA, iGuide box, home amplifier, etc. Every install had the opportunity to use the latest X1 and modems of the time period.
We were the first underground neighborhood Comcast overbuilt into in our township. From 2023 to now, they continued to expand in other underground and aerial communities. Since we were the first expansion, maybe that bumps us up the list. There are still portions of the original system in other parts of PA not upgraded to mid split. What if they upgrade us, then repurpose our amps and LE’s for those areas.
Who knows. Maybe I’ll see more guys later. There were 3 trucks from this contractor. This one also installed the actives here in 2022. Decisive Communications did a lot of the other areas of our township.
Heck it could just be an audit that was found another support rod had to be driven in. What If they added a tap to the amp output for growth and wanted to drive a support rod in to anchor it to (I’d argue a housing to housing extension could work too though). Or what if someone ordered 10 gig fiber and they attached a support to mount slack to. They built the system with nice big terra-cotta colored conduits (from Dura-Line), many with the mule tape still in them to make pulling cable easy.
