We have a similar long-term Charter situation in New Jersey,
All of the land in New Jersey was originally granted by the King to two Boards of Proprietors, long before the USA existed, then the lands were sold off piece by piece in the following years, decades, and centuries.
The East Jersey Board of Proprietors lasted from 1684 to 1998 when it was finally dissolved. For research purposes (land titles etc) the records were turned over to the state government.
I believe that the West Jersey Board of Proprietors, also founded around 1684, still exists today. But as a private company, it is indeed very private, and does not own much of the land anymore.
Aside from colleges (such as Harvard, or William & Mary), I believe that there have been only 3 super-long Royally-chartered companies in North America, being Hudson’s Bay Company and the two Boards of Proprietors as above.
