I was working at a restaurant in the dish pit. We were training two new employees. For their first day, we had everyone pretend I was a recent immigrant that couldn’t speak engish and that everyone took advantage of. My name for the day was Tibor (inspired by The Simpsons character).
I went the whole shift without saying a word. I tried to sell it as much as possible. So I told all the regular co-workers to take extra long breaks, and just dump all the work on me. So they would tell the new guys, “no don’t bother doing that, we just make Tibor take care of it”. We told them that they company barely paid me anything.
It was kind of interesting seeing how the new employees reacted. I could actually feel the pity, and how uncomfortable they were with it. I remember one of them, stopped me, put his hand on my shoulder, and slowly said, “you do a really good job”.
