It’s pretty clear:
urbanriot At the end of the day RFK has stated there will be 100+ experts involved in attempting to determine the cause of autism
Just because RFK uses words that can be interpreted reasonably, doesn’t erase his 20 year history. Everyone who isn’t being completely credulous knows exactly what he’s doing.
This is no different than when he says things that encourage measles vaccination, but walks back on the statement as much as possible, and pairs it with either outright disinformation or makes sure to a statement that undermines his recommendation.
But it is this rhetoric of latching onto the most elementary talking point and using that to defend what is happening that is sickening.
We see it all the time lately:
When RFK Jr. was up for nomination, it was comments like “he says he cares about eating healthy and stopping chronic disease, how could anyone be against those things?”, while ignoring his decades of outright dishonesty and intentional ignorance of evidence.
When it’s DOGE, it’s comments like, "they are about finding government efficiency, and how could anyone be against making government more efficient?, while ignoring the outright ineptitude in the cuts that are being made.
And now it’s, “he says he wants to get more attention to the topic of autism, how could anybody be against that?”
The level of credulity it takes to make those comments is off the charts.
The tired rhetoric is being trotted out continually as apologists seek intellectual reassurance to convince themselves that their ideological positions are justified. It is completely transparent.
urbanriot Yea, it’s definitely weird to watch people freak out over something they actually support if they calmed down.
And it’s always paired with comments like these. It’s incredibly important to present themselves as being detached, dispassionate commentators with lofty goals like rational discourse and getting an even-handed view of the scenario. Instead of presenting themselves as exactly what they are - extreme partisans, and usually conpiratorial. Of course, it’s always selectively applied. It’s this type of sanewashing that’s led us to exactly where we are right now.
