I have the Hitron EN2251 modem, the Sercomm SAX1V1R router, and a Spectrum WiFi 6 pod currently with Internet Ultra at 600/20. My speeds via speedtest.com vary from a “slowish” day around 682-685/18-20 to a much more consistent range of 688-694/21-24. Negligible and far between problems with that setup.
Recently Spectrum sent me a notice that I had free equipment upgrade options available. When I opened the message, it showed only the router as being upgradeable. The Hitron modem is the oldest piece of my equipment trio.
Since I am getting well above my subscribed speeds, my gut tells me to “leave well enough alone”!
However, there appear to be newer 3.1 modems, a WiFi 7 router, and (apparently) a Wifi 7 pod all available from Spectrum.
As my current setup is quite stable, exceeds the demands of our household, and shows no sign of getting finicky, is it worthwhile updating all of my hardware?
I have three Smart TV’s, a small one that is WiFi fed in one den, our primary TCL 55 inch in the living room, and my slightly aging Insignia 50 inch Fire TV in my den. The TCL is fed via ethernet line from the pod to its only USB port (2.0) and consistently gets slightly over 300 d/l speeds that way. The Fire TV is now connected directly from the router to its 10/100 ethernet port and gets anywhere from 94-97 d/l. It also used to be connected via its USB port (also 2.0) but about 20 months ago, it suddenly lost that capability even though the port itself continues to run anything I connect to it.
So you now have my query and the context within which to frame your response(s)!
