There’s always a lot of discussion about Comcast’s last-mile coax, but not much about its backbone and peering. My perception is that Comcast has a pretty strong backbone and decent peering, though I could be wrong. I’m curious what others think of Comcast’s backbone and peering compared to providers like AT&T Fiber or Metronet.
For example, many people say Metronet’s peering is poor despite it being fiber. So, if Comcast’s X-Class service comes to my neighborhood, and it benefits from Comcast’s peering/backbone/routing (with pricing on par with fiber), does that make it more compelling than a fiber connection if the backend is good?
