Verizon FAQs / How-Tos - Want to contribute?

DSL Reports use to have FAQs / How-Tos although I think as time went on, those didn’t get updated anymore. I thought it might be handy if we could have something like that again here on Broadband Bulletin. I was thinking maybe we could post our contributions and any discussions about it and then make sort of a master list with links to our posts with the info. (Do they have “stickies” here?) What do you think?

Fios One boxes

How to Access Diagnostic Screens (and more) on your TV:

Using the remote, press “Menu”

Using the Up and Down button, scroll to “Customer Support”

Select “Top Support Tools”

Select “Connected Device Status”

Once there, you can select one of the boxes and them select “Advanced Diagnostics”

Press the “Exit” button on the remote when you’re done.
You may get a small notice in a corner of your screen asking “Are you sure you want to exit this application?”.
If so, press to exit to live TV.

I didn’t know until I read this but there are two types of boxes Fios One and the Fios One mini.
I have the mini and the remote is different.
You have to hit the home (house) which gives you a list of choices. Right key over to the setting button click on that and you’ll get a list of things you can do. Network info being one of them.

How to make an IP of your local device static (always the same):

In a web browser put 192.168.1.1 in the URL space and press “enter”

Put in your password and press “Log In”

Click on the “Advanced” tab. Under “Network Settings” select
“IPv4 Address Distribution”

Click “Connection List”

Find the device you want to have a static IP and select “Static Lease Type” and “Apply”
(Note: If you don’t recognize the name of your device in the list such as a security camera, refer to the software for that device and see if it has the IP listed there. Make note of it and then come back to the web page for the router.
For desktop computer or laptop devices, check your Network and Internet settings and make note of what IP got automatically assigned)

A little box will pop up saying “Applying settings, please wait”. Then you will be taken back to the DHCP Connections. Now under the “Expired In” column that device should say “Never”.

From there, you can repeat the process for another device or go on to whatever else you need to do or sign out and exit the browser.

Note: I have read that the Verizon G3100 Router limits the number of static IP devices to 10. Since I don’t have that many static IP devices myself, I personally don’t know if that is still limited to 10 as of 2025.

Yours is a bit different from the ones that they sent me. The main Fios One box and the minis that they sent us all came with this one:
(EDIT: I removed the huge image of a Fios One remote control that was here originally. It was just too annoyingly big.)

Josephine I think Sparkchaser said it wrong. The two different types are Fios TV One and Fios TV Plus. Looks like he has the Plus boxes since that’s the remote for them that he showed.

Yes, you’re right. That is the difference. Didn’t realize that was being done.

So that’s all I have but if anyone does a how-to or has some answers to FAQs or has any suggestions or whatever either here or a new thread - however you like, I would love to link to it, if that’s OK.
