On the increasingly infrequent times that we visit a theater, the wife brings our snacks in her purse.
There was a time here back in the late 90s and early 00s when people at our Cineplex Odeon theatres here were checking people’s bags to see if they were trying to sneak in snacks. They stopped doing that after a while though because people started getting violent with these teenagers trying to do this and because it was affecting ticket sales.
However it still looks like searching bags is in their code of conduct:

The last time my wife and I went to see a movie we came from Costco next door with hot dogs, nachos, drinks, etc., and they didn’t say shit. I was literally toppling over with an armful of goodies.
