When I was 17 so many decades ago I had many thousands of dollars worth of musical gear stolen. One of my most prized instruments was my Hagstrom III in jet black. It was swiped from me and given to a biker gang. I beat the stuffing out of the thief, but didn’t dare cross paths with the bikers.
For all these decades, I’ve pined for that guitar, and while I have 5 cheap but good guitars, I didn’t have THE ONE.
My best friend just bought me the identical guitar, from the same vintage 1966. There are some things wrong with it, but it’s a vintage guitar, that is to be expected.
I want to cry. It’s too late to plug it in and play tonight, but tomorrow she’ll get a lot of attention. I named her after my wife.
I will have to pay him back but this was a chance of a lifetime because the price was amazing and this is not the reissue. The Tremar on this is fantastic.
It’s missing some parts and it doesn’t have an original bridge, but it works. I can have the great feel and tone again. Finally, before I died, I replaced my beloved Hagstrom. I’ll post a photo later. The guitar business is severely deflated right now, but these, if you can get one, sell for over a grand still. They were up to 2000 for a while. You won’t find a lot of jet black ones.
