Pretty good memory, I guess, and I’ve been around a while too.

If I go to a restaurant with my wife, I’ll remember what table we were at a couple of years ago, even if she doesn’t remember being in the restaurant at all.

Problem however is remembering things that should be forgotten, like being stood up for a date 40 years ago. 🙁

I just saw that Wakanda is missing from that list of countries. Then I remembered that it was considered a “free trade partner” of the U.S. 😉

Nations threaten each other all the time for economic purposes. The US has been a major historic target of this sort of thing. The negotiations are reopened.

I bet that you did not even bother to read the points made in that OPINION piece, you might agree or disagree, but either of those is better than brushing aside.

This reminds me of poor Captain Picard in the 1992 Star Trek Next Generation episode “Cause and Effect” in which he is trapped in a time loop and unable to change his recurring actions.

Given that President Donald Trump’s worldwide tariffs were announced just hours after the reveal of the pricey Nintendo Switch 2, the immediate question was how that hardware specifically would be affected by the move.

Now, things are evolving quickly. Nintendo just announced that it will be delaying the planned April 9 pre-order date for the Switch 2 in the U.S., and there is no announced date when they will go live instead.

“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” Nintendo said, according to Polygon. “Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”

The price of the Switch 2 was revealed as $449 this week, $150 more than the original Switch and $50 more than the mostly expected price of $400. Experts seemed to agree that the price would likely not change as a result of the tariffs, or possibly even that the assumption of coming tariffs raised the price ahead of time, but we have no confirmation of that.

The actual tariffs include 24% slapped on Japan and 46% on Vietnam, where Nintendo now has moved some production of its hardware and components. This is more complicated than prices going up a known percent in the U.S., which may or may not happen, but the system already costs around $130 more than its equivalent in Japan.

It was nothing but political by it’s very nature but I don’t mind playing since everyone else is and especially since nobody ever before gave one rat’s darn about the likes of the stock market here or on DSLR except about the big bad “millionehs and billionehs on ‘Wall Street’” but whatever. 🙄

Anyway, it seems some countries are already talking. Australia and Japan are already negotiating tariff exemptions with us and the UK wants a trade deal and that’s only in the past 48 hours. Sure China, the EU, and Brazil are trying the “open a can of whoopass” route but we’ll see how that works out.
