iahawkeye83 I prefer banks that have Visa branded debit cards because they work at Costco without a PIN. I prefer to use my debit cards without a PIN in the event of a skimmer attack. I mostly use ApplePay anyways.
I strongly prefer using Credit rather than Debit. With Debit, the transaction dips directly into one’s bank account. With Credit, the Credit Card company is between you & vendor.
The Credit Card company continually uses various methods to ferret out fraud, often before the card holder would even recognize an issue.
In the decades I’ve used Credit, I’ve had the Credit Card bank twice proactively contact me & say I have to change my CC# as i may/have been compromised. The first time, I didn’t have an issue but the vendor in question had other suspect/compromised transactions so my bank insisted I get a new card# to be safe. The other time, I was indeed compromised & the bank contacted mere hours after the compromise, refunded my money & gave me a new CC#.
If you have a legit purchase go bad for some reason, the CC company has “ChargeBack” processes in place. The weight of the CC bank dealing with a vendor carries more weight than you challenging a debit transaction.
I’ve literally only used debit 4-5 times in my life .. heck, my Hair Cut lady REALLY prefers debit, so I add an extra $1 to her tip to more than cover the credit transaction charge.
