Possible youtube streaming change

I have Realplayer Plus – mostly used to view youtube videos without the ads, or occasionally download them from Y. Previously, it would work with most Y content except some movies that appear to have been encrypted.

However, as of today it no longer works at all on Y – it can no longer find any file. Did youtube change how video files are streamed?

It’s a very unremarkable and weak video (or audio) player, compared to, for example, VLC. However, it can (when it works) play most youtube videos ad-free, and $39/year is still better than $14/month.

YouTube Premium costs $13.99 per month for an individual plan. The membership includes ad-free access to YouTube Music too.

It’s been fixed for v24

YouTube made some changes (yet again yesterday) on their end, which caused issues with downloading videos through RealPlayer. The good news is that we’ve re-engineered RealPlayer to work with these changes — and it’s now fixed for RealPlayer version 24.

To get things working again, please “over-install” RealPlayer by going to www.real.com. Just download the installer and run it — when it says RealPlayer is already installed, go ahead and continue the installation. No need to uninstall first.

If you’re using RealPlayer version 22, we’re still working on a fix and hope to have that available soon.
