Astyanax I agree. There’s something wrong with the whole thing. The crime scenes maybe are too violent and serious to inject such humor. I did lol at “you did 20 years for man’s laughter” and “take a chair”. The plays on words always won me over.
Yeah, I think that’s kind of what it is. The tone comes off as darker. Maybe that’s just the more ‘modern’ movie sensibilities.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the original. I vaguely remember a scene on a ship where OJ’s character gets shot repeatedly. I know it’s played up for laughs. I just can’t remember how gory and violent it is, or if it was just pure slapstick.
But, on the other hand, it does seem to have some funny stuff in it, and other aspects do seem to capture the style of humour that was in the originals.
