dslwanter Good. I wish Kinetic would do the same. Legally speaking, under Ohio law, there’s a much stronger case to be made against a township trying to block directional drilling than a city or village trying to do so.
I couldn’t find much in the way of direct contacts for Kinetic, but I guessed the email address of the VP in charge of Kinetic and emailed him to see if it would at least get forwarded to some “executive relations” contact for me. Told him our township was illegally blocking them from proceeding, cited the ORC hoping it’d get forwarded to their legal team, and said as a resident, we don’t want any more delay. I didn’t get a bounce back, but I also didn’t get a response.
At this point, we’re past the halfway point toward the moratorium expiration here. It really irritates me that they’ve gotten away with illegally declaring it, but any litigation now would probably take longer than the deadline unless the township extends it (which they expressed the right to do in the resolution they passed). If they do, it would probably happen at the December Board of Trustees meeting. And if that happens, I’ll go to the media then. Another 6 months would probably quash our chances of getting fiber in 2027.
