Stairway at far side of lot

Last year at other site I posted how a rock stairway fixing an erosion area on side of hill, done years before during Covid, the rock stairs were being undermined by chipmunks. I used foam insulation to evict them and it stabilized the stairs!
One year later, revisited after finding foam insulation spray on sale at Lowe’s.
The stairs I did last year have not been revisited by chipmunks. 2 stairs I didn’t do last year have entrance holes. Those stairs have now been filled with spray foam and sealed.
Time will tell, but based upon last years results, the sale was worthwhile. 😍

Still fine: Now we have a use for it!!!

“Slippage” (polite description of small landslide of hillside into roadway!) of front yard (40-45 degree downward slope to roadway from Helene & this springs rains). $$$ Throw money at it!
After fix: some soil removal, ground fabric & much rock…. Rebuild ditch at roadside…. Now we have needed access to above that new rock area to plant: daffodils, irises, day lily’s, etc., that need thinning from other areas! Free flowers!
Hundreds planted over multiple days! Stairway finally put to good use!!!

I’m thinking you’re working a whole lot more now than you were before retiring there.

As I’m sure I told you before, the mountains around Ashville are wonderful. We missed it last year because of the storm.

Bulbs planted on left and top side. Right side going up diagonally is the waterfall from pond.
All we did with regard to the rocks is sit and watch others run equipment to position things. It was their idea to merge wall with waterfall., and it works beautifully.
Base of Stairway at upper left corner of pix in shadow, and proceeds further uphill. We’ve used this stairway more in past weeks than in years since its build to fix hillside erosion!
Some gardening and planting: It is keeping us active. Not excessive, but active. Needless to say: That “Covid Project” has turned out fantastic (Stairway was done as project during the 2-3 weeks that was supposed to be: “Covid isolation”. Stairway took a month: Done before Covid was.).
