Val Kilmer, Star of ‘Batman Forever,’ ‘Tombstone,’ Dies at 65

Val Kilmer, who played Bruce Wayne in “Batman Forever,” channeled Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone‘s “The Doors” and starred as a tubercular Doc Holliday in “Tombstone,” died Tuesday in Los Angeles. His daughter Mercedes told The New York Times the cause was pneumonia. He was 65. He had been battling throat cancer for several years.

That’s too bad, he played one of the best western characters in cinema history and starred in one of my favorite movies, Heat. After watching The Spartan I was really hoping he was going to turn into an action movie star but unfortunately that never happened.

Best part is where the guy sprays the whole room with a tommy gun and only the bad guys die. 🙂

Feel like I grew up with him on the screen. I loved Real Genius and Top Secret. His Doc Holliday may never be topped. If you haven’t seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, highly recommend; underrated masterpiece. RIP Iceman.

Astyanax Top Secret! was my favorite.

Mine too. I remember seeing it in the theater in 1984. I remember the whole theater laughing practically nonstop.

The cow costume has to be one of the funniest gags ever! Also the gag with boots they carried through the movie.

The Island of Dr. Moreau.

Not a great movie at all but it was worth the price of the ticket to watch Val Kilmer do an impression of Marlon Brando. Marlon Brando was also in the movie as well. Val Kilmer asked Brando if he minded and Brando said I don’t give a F@ck! 🙂
