Cyberpunk 2077 a few years in

So I played and finished this when it launched, bought Phantom Liberty but never got around to playing it. I restarted a few months back and I'm about ready to wrap it up again. Much improved since the beginning and I wish there would be more DLC like Phantom Liberty.

I still feel like there's a "shadow of greatness" issue. As in you're going to play this game and think it's good, but could be so much better, but the game has largely been improved since launch.

Anyone else thinking about this a few years later?

My lack of time served me well. I only played it last year, after the majority of major updates, so all I know is a really great game. This was honestly the most fun I've had in years, and the only game where I immediately started a second play through after finishing it in a long time.

The only thing that really annoyed me was driving in cars, but outside of a couple of missions, it wasn't an issue as I was always on a bike or using fast travel.

Now I just need to get back to it after the last major update and start Phantom Liberty.

Thanks for mentioning the cars. They were terrible in the 1st incarnation, but I'd installed a mod to deal with it.

I played obsessively when the game first launched on my PC, clearing basically everything there was to clear before "meeting Hanako at Embers," as that was basically the point of no return and kicks off the final arc. And then I just...stopped playing for whatever reason.

Currently replaying on PS5 and there are many welcome improvements and additions. It is easy to forget just how janky and buggy this game was at launch and how...artificial the world felt. I mean it still does feel artificial but blatantly unforgivable things like NCPD spawning right next to you off camera on the top of a desolate building at least got fixed.

Console players also eventually got an actually playable game too, which is great because the story and characters really are fantastic.

Not sure about anyone else, but my 2.5 runs have made extensive use of the Widowmaker. I just keep upgrading it and and just annihilates everything.

This game and PL has been the best stand alone game I've played in the last 10 years. It's chef's kiss.
