So where do we start?
Lets talks about the cm9200. They finally pushed a firmware update to the modem a few weeks addressing the slow upload when using the multi-gig layer. It now works correctly for both the upstream and downstream when the 2.5gb connection is feeding a 10gig layer. There is zero hesitation for the upload now as it goes right to 220 mbps with a much lower latency. ( If you remember from DSLR I could not get the full upstream speeds when any device was connected to the 10 gig layer, but It would max out on anything on the GigE layer, this held true even if connecting a computer directly to the modem.)
The fiber front. Lets start with the Elysburg hub, they cut all the fiber that was terminated there and fusion spliced it into 2 new 864smf ribbon fibers that now come from the Shamokin Head End. the only thing still connected there is a single coax drop which I assume is for their security cameras on a cable modem.
Kulpmont Fiber issues. SECV has stopped hooking up new fiber connections in that area. My friend that lives in Kulpmont is having serious drop out issues daily. His speeds have suffered as well. When I was there the other day I was lucky to see 500 down and 300 up with a latency of around 10ms. Some webpages simply will not resolve without multiple attempts, this is using the PTD DNS. Multiple people are complaining in their community social group so this is not isolated.
I am wondering if this is because SECV is reconfiguring the Shamokin Hub for a total fiber conversion? Every few weeks you see new 864smf ribbon being pulled into the building by Cable Services and multiple SECV trucks are also present. daily. They have so many last mile routes running into the building they have filled all the front conduits on the frontside of the building that faces RT 61 and are now running into the rear of the multi-story structure. This hub now has a direct route to Hazleton and Lehighton at 100gb. If you look at the network map (https://www.penteledata.net/map) SECV Sunbury Division is not playing around, all the hubs up here have those backhaul links.
Multiple areas have been built, fusion spliced, and tested but they are not converting anyone else to fiber from these brownfield passings. Mt Carmel, Atlas, Strong, Locust Gap, Natalie, Trevorton and the surrounding areas are all built with no subscriber connections . Coal Township and Shamokin the fiber plant is currently being installed.
I am assuming I will see some build action in Elysburg by the end of the year since all our fiber backhaul has been converted to Shamokin and new ribbon routes hung in key areas.
