Eventually smaller operators are gonna just price themselves out of video. I think that’s the goal keep inching the prices up to see when the bubble bursts and they shift everybody over to YouTube or Hulu.
It’ll be a lot less headache on them to manage a video infrastructure that constantly gets complaints.
I’ll keep my DIRECTV subscription for now which does not have any broadcast or RSN fees and I only need one DVR and every other TV can just use an app so there’s no additional hardware fees each month.
I approve the IT invoices at work and one of our offices has SECV for video services so I guess I’ll see that increase soon.
The fiber rollout is going full steam ahead down here. Haven’t seen any work on my end of the development but on the old section that’s aerial cabling, they tied up the splice case real nice today. It’s no longer hanging on temporary preform supports. It’s right by the one node.
Theory is that these neighborhood clusters are getting the last mile wired up and they probably bring it back to the head end via a mux in a splice enclosure by a node on existing spare fibers. Just a theory due to how it looks like the project is going and that all the new fiber splice cases are located by nodes and older splice cases.
I have a small ribbon hanging out the back of my ped so if they open it up and move it, I’ll know.
