Checking in!
SECV Birdsboro user here since 2010. Started off about 8mbps and now have 1000/100 through my own SB8200 modem. Good pings in the 10-20ms range, average closer to 12-16ms.
Had them in Fleetwood too before I lived in my own. Early 2000’s. Back then the plans were 600/190k or 800/800k. Wow how times have changed!
They did the mid split upgrade in my neighborhood in 2021. They are working on FTTH, but this will take awhile. Their Internet supplier PTD.net does a good job in their backbone and routing. Blue Ridge Cable is also using PTD.net and they have a pretty good FTTH progress in their Sourh Central PA market. In the poconos they are in Mt Pocono and have a lot to do yet, including Stroudsburg. Blue Ridge fiber has packages up to 8Gbps synchronous. It could be possible in time SECV Fiber gets that fast too. A press release indicated they are using the Nokia 25GPON platform.
For video, they are migrating to IPTV, contracted out by TiVo. This way when FTTH is cut over, the video delivery will be migrated from DOCSIS to PON. There’s complaints about TiVo buffering, but I think it’s more with peoples WiFi. SECV should hardwire or use moca adapters for the TiVo.
Welcome aboard!
