i finally made it in (to the forum). for the past 20+ years, DSLR-security was always the first place that i went to, on the internet. i missed it! so i am glad that i found this new forum, this morning. i see a lot of people, here, from the old DSLR forum(s).
i had a hard time creating an account. first it said that i needed to do the captcha thing. i wasn’t seeing that due to my using the “noscript” browser-extension. then it said AGAIN that i needed to do the captcha thing. two URLs for the captcha needed to be allowed! and for whatever reason, i was having trouble seeing the captcha thing on the screen. i finally got through that but i was very frustrated with it.
then i got the email for validating my email address, but, when i clicked it, it said “this link has already been used, or is invalid,” whatever caused that. so i clicked “resend email” but same thing: “the link has already been used, or is invalid.” uhg! it didn’t offer to resend another email for validating my email-address. i was stuck.
i couldn’t find any way, here, to ask for help with creating my account for the forum. i couldn’t post here since my email-address had not been validated.
so, i kept looking for some way to get help, here, or to have another email sent for validating my email-address, or something! i saw the option to “log out globally” which said it would cancel any email-validation" so i tried that, had another email sent, for validating my email-address, but the same thing: “link has already been used, or is invalid”(!). and, incidentally, that was after i had disabled all of the protection on my computer, so that none of that would be causing a problem, and running firefox in “safe mode.”
so, i had yet another email sent for validating my email-address, but, this time, i copied the link and pasted it in my browser’s address-bar, and entered it, and, finally, it worked! the problem was that the link, in the email, had some garbage tacked on to the end of the link, which was why it wouldn’t work.
i have never been so frustrated with trying to create an account for a forum. it was the fooling with the captcha that bothered me. for whatever reason, on my computer, i had trouble with viewing the elements relating to it on my screen.
still, i think the forum is nice and the person who created it did a good job. they are not amateurs.
