AI is like the medicines centuries ago that had toxic substances in them, like Cocaine in CokaCola and the snake oils. AI might be hip with some antisocial types, but it will be our ruination and between that and our administration that is bringing everything down deliberately, humans are only hurting themselves, we are our worst enemy, because we created these things.

In the Duna Saga, mentates replaced AI and robots because humans were almost wiped out by them.

Unless we merge with computers, which is what I do think will happen, humans will become part computer, either with chips or genetically. That is, if we survive what is happening right now, and things don’t look very good.

vaxvms I think she’s right. We need to get some of those “microseconds”, made out of Cat 6A for modern times, and use them on current developers. We’ll hold the “Microsecond of Shame” ceremony, during which developers recognised for inefficient, wasteful implementation or broken software will have that microsecond wrapped firmly around their chests, and they get to wear it for at least a week. Modern-day browser developers and Web system creators won’t enjoy the results, to say nothing of the “exceptional” DOGE “hackers”.
