Looking for the name of a movie

Hello, All
I saw a movie long ago but can’t remember the name of it. It was from the 1980’s I believe. It was an anthology type movie and one of the stories in it was about a lady who was actually a gargoyle (?). This guy saw her in her true form and she told him he could never tell anybody what she actually was. Eventually, they get married and have children. Years pass and he finally does tell someone.

Possibly the same movie, possibly a different anthology type movie - not sure but it had a story in it about a guy who was racist and he got zapped to Vietnam war (?). In real life, the main actor in that story was killed because of a helicopter crash on set.

Can anyone remember the title of the movie?

Could it be the 1990 movie Tales from the Darkside: The Movie an anthology which included the story of a gargoyle/woman, “Lover’s Vow”?

Josephine It is definitely Tales from the Darkside the movie. At least the gargoyle one was. That one HAUNTED me as a kid but as an adult I appreciate the fucked-upedness of it lol.

The Vietnam one rings a bell but the gargoyle was definitely TFTD.

It was actually WWII Nazi Germany. The actor that was killed on set was Vic Morrow in Twilight Zone: The Movie.

During the filming of the "Time Out” segment directed by Landis on July 23, 1982, at 2:20 a.m., actor Vic Morrow and child actors Myca Dinh Le (age 7) and Renee Shin-Yi Chen (age 6) died in an accident involving a Bell UH-1 helicopter being used on the set. The two child actors were hired in violation of California law, which prohibits child actors from working at night or in proximity to explosions, and requires the presence of a teacher or social worker. During the subsequent trial, Landis denied culpability for the accident, but admitted that their hiring was “wrong”.

I guess my brain only remembers the segments of these anthology movies that really struck me as a kid. The gargoyle one was terrifying but also really sad, and I remember it super well to this day despite not having seen it in probably 30+ years, but I don’t know that I remember any of the other shorts in that movie.

For Twilight Zone: The Movie, I remember John Lithgow on the plane (of course), I remember the kid’s birthday party (also, of course), and I remember Dan Akroyd asking if the dude driving wanted to see something REALLY scary. I knew there was a helicopter crash in that one that killed people, but didn’t remember the exact story it was from.

For newer anthology movies, I’ve really enjoyed several of the ‘VHS’ series.

Reading further into the Wiki article the bigot visits two places/times other than the WWII one - “rural Alabama during the 1950s, where a group of Ku Klux Klan members see him as a Black man” and “a jungle of Vietnam during the Vietnam War, being fired at by American soldiers who see him as a member of the Viet Cong.” He then returns WWII occupied France (I mistakenly said Germany above) where the SS put him into an enclosed railroad freight car, along with Jewish prisoners bound for a concentration camp.

So he did go to Vietnam.

That is so sad about the actors who were killed. I didn’t know about the children. They would’ve been grown up by now and maybe have had children of their own. 😢

Oh boy I don’t remember the details but as soon as I saw the Christian Slater image I remember watching it and thinking it was horribly campy and ridiculous, I feel like I only enjoyed one of the four stories but I can’t remember which one.

Hola brokensymetry! Yes, Vietnam is the supposed location of the set where in just a few seconds everything went so terribly wrong. The two kids were Asian-Americans for the roles. Although Vic Morrow was already an accomplished actor by the 1962 debut of the post DD WWII TV series Combat!, it was his portrayal of Sergeant “Chip” Saunders there-in that made him a childhood hero of sorts to many impressionable young boys (who during this general time period had quite a few to choose from: Rat Patrol (see_Rogue Heroes_), The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Prisoner, The Fugitive, Secret Agent (a.k.a Danger Man)…, and then for very important “additional” reasons The Avengers .😉 He was also Jennifer Jason Leigh’s father.

I’ve enjoyed watching all of those, usually reruns late night in B/W on my 19″ tube set, but later in color. I still watch a few episodes every now and then.
