wdunwoody Heat84 - there was video of a 33 story skyscraper collapsing in Bangkok that caused chills down my spine… it looked identical to the WTC collapses on 9/11…

Donoreo A friend of mine from high school works at the Canadian Embassy there, he was ok, not much detail from him yet, he is rather busy. https://globalmedic.ca/ is sending help as they do all over the world when needed.

Thankfully it was only under construction and not full of thousands of people but still the construction workers trapped in the rubble…☹️

Wow! We actually have some USAID people left on the payroll to send to help! I guess Elon really isn’t doing as good of a job as he says! 😜 https://www.reuters.com/world/us-aid-agency-sending-teams-thailand-earthquake-recovery-says-source-2025-03-28/
Guy54435 Heat84 That is a terrible horrible thing to happen, Myanmar quake death toll rises to 1,644 may they rest in peace and that survivors continue to be found.
px_eliezer_ Myanmar junta continues air strikes after devastating earthquake Myanmar’s military junta has continued to bomb parts of the war-torn country following the major earthquake there, which has killed more than 1,600 people. The UN has described the attacks as “completely outrageous and unacceptable”. Special Rapporteur* Tom Andrews told the BBC that it was “nothing short of incredible” that the military was continuing to “drop bombs when you are trying to rescue people” after the earthquake. (Special Rapporteur is not a typo, rather it is a specific U.N. title) https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy7x7r8m3xlo
Astyanax Guy54435 and that survivors continue to be found I can’t imagine what being a patient in a Burmese hospital must be like even before the quake let alone now. I don’t think it’s even this good.

px_eliezer_ BANGKOK, April 5 (Reuters) - Three U.S. aid workers were laid off while in Myanmar helping the rescue and recovery from the country’s massive earthquake, a former senior staffer said, as the Trump administration’s dismantling of foreign aid affects its disaster response. After travelling to the Southeast Asian nation, the three officials were told late this week they would be let go, Marcia Wong, a former official at the U.S. Agency for International Development, told Reuters…. The three USAID workers have been sleeping on the streets in the earthquake zone, Wong said, adding that their terminations would take effect in a few months. Residents have been sleeping outside for fear of aftershocks and further building collapses…. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/usaid-team-fired-while-myanmar-earthquake-zone-ex-official-says-2025-04-05/ Really great for morale when in the middle of a disaster zone (not).
