Heat84 That’s a stupid rule. Why should the defense be bailed out?
If I had it my way, the way that rule would work is, wherever the runners are when the ball is ruled dead, they would be moved up 90 feet, then to the nearest base, whether that’s forwards or backwards. That’s definitely a fairER way to do it. It’s completely illogical to stop the runners where they are when the ball is ruled dead since they obviously would’ve gotten at least one more base if the ball doesn’t stick in the wall or bounce over the wall.
