Anybody having trouble with recent versions of MediaInfo?

The current version, v25.03, doesn’t work and even a couple before that also don’t, with the following error message. The last version I seem to be able to get to work is apparently v24.11.1 (that’s what it says is the installed version), although I’m pretty sure that the last install .exe I used that now works was actually v24.11. I wrote to their support and got an answer in a minute asking what my OS and CPU but never heard back despite even a follow-up message.

takeahike It works just fine for me on Windows 11? I just installed it last week, I think.
Before I installed the latest version, I fully uninstalled the previous version with Revo Uninstaller Pro.
EDIT: I did find a lot of Google hits for Windows 11 “package could not be registered” but not for MediaInfo. The “Package could not be registered” may be related to corrupted system files. Now, is MediaInfo the only program you have where you receive this error? No other programs show this error?

Thanks! I did a full Revo Pro uninstall of v24.11 that works as well as a long overdue sfc /scannow and then tried to get v25.03 running but still no dice. I don’t want to try a DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth because on my system that usually stalls at the infamous 62.3% that I’ve also seen a lot of with others. So, I have v24.11 that works. Looks like this as well as the DISM failure are just consequences of my ancient install that as you know has not been fresh for 15 years now! But at least now I know, although despite being a free app I don’t think that it was very courteous of their support to just ignore my follow-ups. But again now I know, so thank you again as always!

BTW, per your query, this is the only app that I’ve had this problem with in my memory, my memory still pretty good at my ripe old age!

Using the portable version. Updated to v25.03 last week. Working fine on Win 11.

Works fine on Windows 11 here, too. I just install overtop of the old version each time without any problems.

Thank you! The portable version works for me, which certainly makes sense since it’s not dependent on fitting in to my non-fresh installed continuously upgraded OS since Windows 7 15 years ago system! (sorry, but I can’t do a fresh install because I fear I will not live long enough to get everything I have redone, not to mention that the problems I do have are just minor annoyances and not substantial enough to justify the effort). I generally prefer to use installed software over portables, but if it works that’s fine too. Thank you once again!

FWIW v25.04 has been released. The installer again failed for me just like in the OP so I just updated with the portable.

To be sure, I uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller Pro (not a necessary step), then installed v25.04 GUI installer.
It’s working for me just fine.

Well unlike me you have reloaded Windows 11 in the last year or two and haven’t like me only upgraded since Windows 7 fifteen years ago. Despite that the system runs really well with only minor annoyances that would probably be there anyway! About two years back I did do an over the top install saving everything and that really helped a lot. Just think–I still have everything from the last fifteen years without having to spend more time than I might have left on the planet recreating everything if I had to start over!
